  • Mayoral and Council candidates faced off at a municipal election forum hosted by the Chinatown Safety Council and REACH Edmonton, focusing on housing, Chinatown revitalization, social housing, and community safety. Some proposed creative solutions such as using school spaces for youth activities and increasing foot patrols. Candidates also emphasized collaboration with the community and provincial government.

  • Mayoral candidate Rahim Jaffer says he plans to create a digital service platform that simplifies access to permits, licenses, and public requests, eliminating bureaucratic delays. He says he will use AI to identify and repeal outdated bylaws, aiming to save time for both residents and businesses.

  • In a Facebook post, Mayoral candidate Andrew Knack highlighted Edmonton’s tech sector, which he says has attracted over $2.7 billion in venture capital and created thousands of jobs. He emphasized that innovation and entrepreneurship are crucial for building a stronger, more diverse economy that retains talent and investment. He pledged to support start-ups and local businesses by cutting red tape, modernizing City services, and positioning Edmonton as a leader in technology and new ideas.
