    A bag fee that is not a tax does nothing to help the City reduce the cost of managing garbage. This fee simply puts more profits into the retailers. When did the City start telling businesses how to operate? What were you thinking? Are there not more pressing issues for Edmonton’s councilors to be working on?

    Truly, I do not understand how Council can tell a private company to charge for services, a product or a bag. Surely Walmart/MacDonalds make enough money without the help of City Council.
