GOVERNMENT INVOLVEMENT ALWAYS COSTS MORE, BUT ACHIEVES LESS. GOVERNMENT MUST REDUCE / ELIMINATE THEIR POWERS, CONTROLS & REGULATIONS AND HAND THESE OVER TO THE PEOPLE AND TO PRIVATE INDUSTRY, WHO ALWAYS CAN DO A BETTER JOB BOTH FINANCIALLY AND IN QUALITY. GOVERNMENTS MUST GOVERN FAR LESS, IN FACT THE LEAST. THE RESULT WILL BE FAR BETTER GOVERNMENTS & GOVERNANCE AND EVERYTHING WILL COST MUCH LESS.

I’ve seen alot of waste, projects going way over budget and unnecessary spending. City council needs to stay within a reasonable budget provided by taxes and revenues that are already being received and prioritize the projects that have to be done. Bike lanes and sidewalk widening and all those road barriers that narrow main streets like Jasper Ave are a waste. Huge planters with flowers/Christmas decor every few feet are wasteful. Start looking at where you can cut back. Where can you reuse, recycle and reduce materials. Make contractors more accountable and use the resources and services we already have at the City instead of contracting out. Get creative with how to engage the public to reduce operating costs and bring spending down. We all have to do that in our homes as prices rise and so should city council be more prudent with their spending.

Stop to waist taxpayers money for the project without consulting with residents.

Streamline internal city processes – employers will know – and be able to do more with their time. Cut the red tape and layers.

Please stop the neighborhood revitalization projects as they are not a necessity and add huge cost to the budget as well as personal costs to individual homeowners for their sidewalk renewal costs which they do not own. That should be included in the overall cost of the project. Since when should we pay for sidewalks that are not our own but we also have to maintain . The city priorities are certainly backwards !
